Scott Battley, a member of the Texas A&M Class of ’14, joined the Athletics Department in fall of 2016 and serves as an Assistant Athletics Director and the Director of Sports Science.
As Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Sports Science, he is responsible for the oversight of the services to the Olympic Sports teams and Performance & Wellness units, providing direct support to the Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Equestrian, and Volleyball programs. Scott also oversees the Sports Science staff, including the Ph.D. Fellowship and internship programs, providing development opportunities for students from A&M and further afield. Prior to his current role, he was a Sports Scientist with Olympic Sports from 2018-2022 as well as an Assistant Sports Scientist with the football team from 2016-2018.
Before moving back to Aggieland, Scott was a full-time intern for the University of Tennessee, leading the sports science practices for the Vols' football team in 2015. Prior to working with Tennessee, Scott interned with Texas A&M Football Sports Science during their first year of operation. He also assisted with the strength and conditioning programs of the A&M volleyball and softball teams.
The Porter, Texas native received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Exercise Physiology with a minor in Sports Management in 2013 and a Master of Science in Sport Physiology in 2014 from Texas A&M University. Alongside his work, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology under Dr. Richard Kreider, investigating the external & internal training load demands in Collegiate Women’s Volleyball. Scott is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).
He and his wife, Megan, have two children, Bo and Olivia.
