- Director of Pitching & Player Development
Jack Mahala enters his third season on the Texas A&M baseball staff after joining the program for the 2024 season.
Mahala played a key role in the Aggies' historic 2024 run to the College World Series Finals, serving as the program's Director of Research and Development. In that role, Mahala led the creation of advanced machine learning models to elevate player evaluation, refine game strategies and unlock untapped potential across the roster. His innovative, data-driven approach helped position Texas A&M at the forefront of college baseball, setting new standards for player development and competitive excellence.
During the 2024 campaign, the Aggies ranked inside the top 10 nationally in 11 different categories, setting program records for home runs and walks. On the pitching side, which is Mahala's primary area of focus, Texas A&M shattered its single-season strikeout record with 715 and led the SEC in ERA with a 3.86 mark, finishing fourth nationally. The staff also matched the school record for shutouts with 12.
The success continued in 2025, as the Aggies once again ranked among the nation’s elite, placing inside the top 20 nationally in five pitching categories, including ERA and WHIP. The Maroon & White ranked second in the country in walks allowed per nine innings and third in strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Before joining the Aggies, Mahala served as Associate Pitching Coordinator at Cressey Sports Performance, where he helped develop pitchers across all levels of baseball. He also worked with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League, where he introduced advanced data visualization and analytics tools to enhance player and team performance.
A native of New Jersey, Mahala was a four-year member of the Harvard baseball team, making 31 appearances on the mound for the Crimson. He earned his degree in economics from Harvard University in 2022.
