Jan 29, 2016 | Equestrian
COLLEGE STATION – Fourth-ranked Texas A&M equestrian opens the spring season Saturday against No. 2 Georgia at the Hildebrand Equine Complex at 11 a.m.
The Aggies closed the fall slate with a 6-1 record including wins over then-No. 4 South Carolina and then-No. 2 Auburn. Last time out, Texas A&M defeated Delaware State, 10-4. The Aggies lone blemish on the season came at Georgia Sept. 25, where the Bulldogs narrowly edged Texas A&M, 10-9.
"We are looking forward to getting the spring season started," head coach Tana McKay said. "We are looking forward to competing against Georgia after our close meet in September. It will be a very good test for us. We have worked hard during the break, so it will be good to see how the team has progressed as we move towards the postseason."
Looking to continue their successful seasons are seniors Hannah Williams and Ashley Dotson. Williams is unbeaten (5-0-2) in Equitation on the Flat, while Dotson looks to remain undefeated on the year in Reining at 7-0-0.
Sophomore Alex Desiderio has led the Aggies in Equitation over Fences with a 5-1-0 record, while junior Rachel Lucht is 5-1-1 on the year in Horsemanship.
