BROOKINGS, S.D. – The No. 1 Texas A&M Equestrian team squares off with South Dakota State for its final road meet of the fall schedule Saturday at 10 a.m. CT at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.
"We are excited to compete at South Dakota State, a place we haven't been since 2012," head coach Tana McKay said. "It will be fun coaching against (South Dakota State head coach) Ellie Wilkins, who helped us win a NCEA Championship. Our girls have practiced hard all week, so I am looking forward to seeing some good rides."
The Aggies (2-1, 1-1 SEC) are coming off a loss via the tiebreaker at No. 2 Auburn, 9-9 (1594-1501.5), Oct. 15. Texas A&M was led by junior Madison Bohman and sophomore Rebekah Chenelle, who each earned their second MOPs of the season.
Chenelle, juniors Alex Deiderio, Rachael Hake and Kai DeVoglaer along with senior Haley Webster will begin competition in Equitation over Fences. Juniors Bailey Cook and Avery Ellis, seniors Kaci Fisher and Rachel Lucht and sophomore Sarah Orsak are scheduled to compete in Horsemanship.
In Equitation on the Flat, Chenelle, Desiderio and Hake will be complemented by junior Anna Rea and senior Maddie Swem. The meet's final event, Reining, will feature Bohman, senior Sarah Kate Grider, sophomore Haley Franc, junior Jaci Marley and redshirt freshman Ashton Dunkel.
South Dakota State enters the meet at 0-3, falling to New Mexico State and Fresno State on Oct. 1 at the Willis Invitational in Waco.
