COLLEGE STATION – After carding a home victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday night, the Aggie men's basketball team returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Denver in a 7 p.m. contest inside Reed Arena.
The non-conference affair will be available digitally on mobile devices, tablets, PCs and connect-TVs for SEC Network subscribers whose cable/satellite packages allow access to SEC Network+ content through the WatchESPN app and SECSports.com. Additionally, radio coverage on the Aggie Sports Network can be heard locally in the Bryan/College Station area on WTAW 1620 AM.
The match-up with Denver is the middle contest of a three-game homestand for the Aggies (5-2), who will also host South Carolina State on Saturday before traveling to Houston where they will take on No. 20 Arizona inside the Toyota Center on Dec. 17.
During their most recent outing Monday against the Islanders, sophomore Tyler Davis continued his strong start to the season by pouring in a career-best 25-points. The 6-foot-10 center converted on 9-of-12 field goal opportunities while making 7-of-9 shots from the free throw line. He also added eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
Classmate Admon Gilder also put together a strong outing by tying his personal-best point total with 17 points and four 3-point baskets.
Texas A&M's strong team defense was on display as it limited the Islanders to a season-low 69 points in the contest, marking the sixth opponent in seven games that the Aggies have held to their lowest point total of the season.
The Pioneers (3-4) venture to Aggieland following a 57-55 victory over Weber State during their last outing, which came Saturday in Ogden, Utah. Led by first-year head coach and Denver alum Rodney Billups, DU is averaging 74.6 points per game this season while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor as a team.
Sophomore guard Joe Rosga paces the Pioneers in scoring at 16.1 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from 3-point range. On the interior, junior center Daniel Amigo is contributing 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest.
The two schools have met just once on the hardwood, a 99-84 Texas A&M win on Jan. 5, 1974, in Houston during the Bluebonnet Classic.
