No. 4 Texas A&M’s comeback falls short against South Carolina

BISHOP, Ga. – No. 4 Texas A&M equestrian fell to South Carolina, 11-8, Saturday at the SEC Championships at the UGA Equestrian Complex. The Aggies (9-6, 3-3 SEC) trailed 6-4 after Equitation on the Flat and Reining, but rallied to take an 8-7 lead, winning Horsemanship, 4-1.
In Reining, senior Logan Pluhar captured the first Aggie point with a 135.5-134.5 victory over Madison Thiel, before sophomore Madison Bohman defeated Sarah Bouchard 116.5-0. Senior Hannah Jechow recorded her 11th win of the season, topping Bridgett White, 137.5-133.5. Senior Ashley Dotson closed the event with a 140-136.5 triumph over Paisley Roberts.
Senior Carolyn Day kicked off Horsemanship with a win, defeating Ashley Reichert, 145-143.5. Pluhar overpowered Megan Overberg, 151.5-142, prior to junior Kaci Fisher beating Bailey Mierzejewski, 143.5-117.5. Sophomore Avery Ellis knocked off Courtney Allen, 145.5-141.5.
A&M will return to action April 14-16 at the NCEA Championships in Waco, Texas.
