Reed Named to Davey O’Brien Class of 2025

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed was named to the Davey O'Brien Class of 2025, the organization announced Thursday. The honor officially places Reed among the candidates for the 2025 Davey O'Brien Award, which recognizes the nation's best collegiate quarterback.
Reed has been instrumental in leading the Aggies to an 8-0 start, their best since 1992. The redshirt sophomore ranks second in the SEC and No. 11 nationally in total offense with 2,321 yards (290.1 per game) and stands second in the league and ninth nationally in touchdowns responsible for with 23 (17 passing, 6 rushing). He has completed 137-of-223 passes (61.4 percent) for 1,972 yards and has added 349 yards on 64 rushing attempts. In five SEC games, Reed is tied for the league lead with 13 touchdowns responsible for and ranks third with 11 passing touchdowns.
The Nashville, Tennessee, native has guided an Aggie offense that ranks among the nation's top 15 in scoring, averaging 37.8 points per game, and No. 21 nationally in total offense at 459.3 yards per game. Texas A&M's passing attack has shown one of the most significant improvements in the FBS this season, increasing by 80 yards per game through the air, which ranks as the second-largest gain in the SEC and eighth-best nationally.
Fan voting for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award begins Thursday on the organization's social media channels (@daveyobrien on Instagram, X and Facebook). Fans can vote by liking the original post highlighting Reed. The top vote getters on each platform will receive bonus committee votes that count toward the National Selection Committee's totals. The first round of fan voting runs through Friday, Nov. 7.
The 2025 semifinalists will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 12, followed by the naming of three finalists on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The winner will be revealed on ESPN during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Friday, Dec. 12.
