Oct 31, 2025 | Football
NEW YORK – Texas A&M's Le'Veon Moss and Rueben Owens II were named to the updated watch list for the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award, the College Sports Communicators in association with The Associated Press and Fiesta Sports Foundation announced on Friday.
Moss and Owens II, both running backs for the No. 3 Aggies, are coming off injuries that ended or hampered their 2024 seasons. Moss was among the SEC's top rushers before a knee injury ended his season in early November, while Owens II suffered a foot injury in preseason camp and saw only limited action in the final two games of 2024.
The pair have played key roles in the Aggies' run to their 8-0 start and highest ranking in 30 seasons in 2025. Moss was the team's leading rusher with 389 yards and six touchdowns on 70 carries before suffering an injury in the Aggies' victory over Florida. Owens II has stepped up in Moss' absence to average 76.5 rushing yards in his last four games and take over the team's rushing lead with 440 yards on 78 carries.
Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
