Mar 02, 2025 | Women's Basketball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M women's basketball team fell short on senior day against Arkansas, 80-71, to wrap up the regular season inside Reed Arena Sunday.
Sahara Jones led the way with a career-high 21 points and the second double-double of her season, grabbing 11 rebounds. Jada Malone also recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.
The game started out with strong defense on both sides until the 6:54 mark in the first when Texas A&M broke the 0-0 start with a split pair of free throws from Lauren Ware, 1-0. Ware would make the first field goal of the game with the first 3-pointer of her season at the 5:16 time stamp, 5-2. Kyndall Hunter then drilled back-to-back triples, and the Maroon & White opened up a 20-7 lead after one. The Texas A&M forced Arkansas to shoot 2-of-15 from the field in the first 10 minutes.
The Razorbacks would storm back with a run to take the lead at 31-29 with 35 seconds left in the half. A putback lay in by Jada Malone at the buzzer would even the score, 31-31, to go into the half. Jones poured in 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds during the first two quarters.
Arkansas owned the third quarter and raced out to a 55-40 advantage going into the fourth. In the final frame, Texas A&M scored 31 points, but were unable to pull off the comeback, 80-71.
The Aggies will take on No. 11 Tennessee at 10 a.m. in the first round of the SEC Tournament Wednesday. Texas A&M tied for 13th in the conference standings with Arkansas, Auburn and Missouri and received the 16 seed due to the league tiebreaker of record versus the group of tied teams.

Head Coach Joni Taylor
On the impact of Sahara Jones and her five-year career at Texas A&M…
"It's really special to have someone like Sahara, who has stayed at one place for five years. You don't find that much anymore. She's played in the most games, logged the most minutes, started the most games and sacrificed her body for this team. She does whatever we ask of her, over and over again. I still believe her best basketball is ahead of her."
Graduate Student Sahara Jones
On her time at Texas A&M…
"It means a lot. I've been here for a long time, been around a lot of people and I was able to connect with so many of them. They say when you come to college, you find your friends for life, and I truly believe I have. I love them to death. I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. If I had the chance, I'd do it all over again without hesitation."
Redshirt Junior Jada Malone
On Arkansas's offense in the third quarter…
"Credit to their two players. They started knocking down shots while we made some mistakes on defense. That happens in games. But I think we did a good job trying to come back and limit their points in the next two quarters."
