Aggies Drop SEC Opener versus Georgia
Sep 12, 2025 | Soccer
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team dropped its SEC opener Friday evening at Ellis Field, 3-0, to the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Aggies (3-2-3, 0-1-0 SEC) were undone by Georgia's efficient attack, as the Bulldogs converted three of their seven shots-on-goal and held a 20-14 advantage in total shots.
Georgia (5-2-2, 1-0-0 SEC) claimed the lead in the seventh minute. Texas A&M had two golden opportunities to knot the match before the intermission, but Georga's Hannah Follard made a diving stop on a Trinity Buchanan shot from the right corner of the penalthy box and a Bailey Cate shot from 20 yards sailed inches high of frame.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more goals in the second half. A Kaylee Noble hit the crossboar midway through the second half as the Aggies tried to pull a goal back from the deficit.
GOAL SUMMARY
7' | Mya Townes floated a corner kick to the back center of the six-yard box, where Cate Hardin rose up and headed it into the back left pocket from seven yards out. A&M 0, Georgia 1
50' | Kiera Staude dribbled up the middle and scored with a lofted shot into the top left corner from 18 yards out. A&M 0, Georgia 2

TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach G. Guerrieri On what seemed to be the difference between the two sides in the match… "They finished their chances and we didn't. They had three really good chances and finished three really good goals. We had three really good chances and hit the post, the net behind the goal and missed. We talked about winning the last 18-yard boxes and they won the 18-yard boxes today.
Junior midfielder Trinity Buchanan
On the intensity of SEC matches...
"They were more physical than us, especially in the midfield. I can speak for myself, I could have been more physical to win the balls out of the air, because that is how we start the counterattacks. Once we did that, we found offensive opportunities and shots on goals."
