BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Aggie volleyball team swept the Texas A&M Invitational, after downing LMU Saturday afternoon in Reed Arena, 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22).
The Aggies (8-2) protected home court with a stout offensive performance, hitting just shy of .380 percent (.379) to round out the invitational with a victory over LMU (2-7). The Maroon & White's top four kill-getters hit over .340 as Emily Hellmuth spearheaded the group with 13 kills.
A back-and-forth battle got the match started, as the teams were tied on four occasions to 6-6. The Aggies were the ones to break the deadlock behind three-straight kills from Hellmuth, Maddie Waak and Morgan Perkins, followed by a Lion error forcing them to huddle up (10-6). The barrage ensued, as Texas A&M pushed on through a mix of offense and defense to extend its lead to six (20-14). Not giving up an inch, the Maroon & White closed the first frame, 25-16.
The Maroon & White came out hot in the second set, scoring the first five points on consecutive kills forcing an early timeout from LMU (5-0). The Lions added two points off Aggie errors, but A&M quickly responded with another 5-0 run to extend their lead (11-2). The Maroon & White continued to roll, pushing their advantage to 18-7, leading LMU to call its second timeout of the frame. The hosts didn't let the Lions get close, as they powered through the remainder of the set to seal it, 25-15.
The teams traded points at the beginning of the third (4-4) before the Maroon & White took charge, as they forged a three-point advantage when they reached double digits, 10-7. The visitors kept it close, narrowing the gap to one as head coach Jamie Morrison huddled up his group (20-19). Texas A&M settled the storm courtesy of Stowers, as she scored the final-five points of the match for the Aggies with four kills and an ace to seal the frame (25-22) and match, 3-0.

COACH'S QUOTES
Head coach Jamie Morrison on the Texas A&M Invitational…
"Happy with the weekend. I thought we got better as the weekend went on. Some stuff that we've been working on throughout the week, we kind of harped on. So, three matches happened, and we continued to get better. So, overall pleased."
Coach Morrison on the entire non-conference slate…
"I think seasons always have ebbs and flows and it was an early ebb last week, and we'll probably have another one at some point this season. The best teams are the ones that can get through those, stay together, stay unified and stay mission focused on what we're trying to accomplish throughout the season. I think it was a little bit of that during the non-con. We played well at the beginning and kind of dipped a little bit. I think we're starting to do this at the right time right now, heading into SEC play."
PLAYER'S QUOTES
Redshirt-Sophomore outside hitter Kyndal Stowers on the three-match sweep…
"It was amazing. It was a great chance for our team to get our feet back under us after those two losses on the road. We showed up after a few days off and sleeping in our own bed after a lot of travel. It was the perfect opportunity to come out and show out, especially being our first home game in front of the 12thMan."
Freshman opposite hitter Taryn Morris on learning from Logan Lednicky and Maddie Waak…
"They push me in practice. Every single touch we're working together. I have Logan [Lednicky] as guidance as a senior. They're both [Maddie Waak, Logan Lednicky] phenomenal and they're there to guide me not only in practices but in games as well."
