No. 11 Aggies Stuns No. 6 LSU Tigers, 4-3

BATON ROUGE – The No. 11 Texas A&M men's tennis team clinched a thrilling upset over No. 6 LSU, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the LSU Tennis Complex.
Junior Kholo Montsi cliched the upset after downing No. 117 Andrej Loncarevic on court 3. The South African forced a third set in a down to the wire tiebreaker. Heading into the third, Montsi was down 1-4. He stormed back, claiming five straight games to pull off the victory, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4.
The Aggies (12-6, 5-3 SEC) grabbed the doubles point in a thrilling affair with all three courts sent into tiebreakers. Montsi and sophomore Alex Frusina defeated the No. 59 duo of Matias Ponce de Leon and Erik Arutiunian on court 2, 7-6 (6). In their debut as a tandem, Lathan Skrobarcek and Markus Molder topped Enzo Kohlmann and Olaf Pieczkowski, 7-6(5), to secure the early advantage.
Senior Togan Tokac struck first in singles on court 6 in dominating fashion over Ponce de Leon, 6-2, 6-1. Molder kept the momentum going on court 5, defeating Sasa Markovic in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.
The Tigers (18-3, 5-2 SEC) tied things up at 3-all with wins on court 4, 1 and 2. Montsi would then force a third set to eventually clinch. The Maroon & White handed the Purple & Gold their second conference loss of the season.
The Aggies return home to face the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes Wednesday March 18 at 6 p.m.
