Texas A&M Faces Houston in NCAA Tournament Second Round
Mar 20, 2026 | Men's Basketball
OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 10 seed Texas A&M men's basketball team is set to face No. 2 seed Houston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at the Paycom Center. Tip is set for 5:10 p.m. on TNT.
The Aggies advanced out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament for their third consecutive season. With the 63-50 win Thursday night over Saint Mary's, head coach Bucky McMillan became only the second coach in program history to win an NCAA Tournament game in his first season with the Aggies. Texas A&M moved to 22-11 on the year with the victory as the Aggies never once let the Gaels grab the lead. Rashaun Agee led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds, with Rubén Dominguez chipping in 11.
Agee has dominated the boards throughout the year, and his nine rebounds in the game moved him up to fourth on Texas A&M's single-season list with 293 in the year. He owns the Texas A&M record for double-doubles in a season after recording his 13th of the year against the Sooners in the SEC Tournament. With his 22-point performance Thursday, he neared Acie Law IV, Josh Carter and Pharrel Payne's scoring record of 26 points in an NCAA Tournament game.
Dominguez continues to nail shots from behind the arc, now holding sole possession of third on Texas A&M's singles-season 3-pointers list with 85. The Spaniard is one away from Josh Carter's 86 3's in second from 2006-07. He now owns 19 double-digit scoring games after logging 11 points in Thursday's action.
Houston enters the second round after defeating Idaho, 78-47, Thursday. The two teams recently met in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Aggies forced the Cougars into overtime, before falling 100-95 at FedEx Forum in Memphis. The Cougars hold the series advantage, 54-32, and have come out on top in each of the last two matchups. Houston is 29-6 this season, falling in the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship to Arizona.
