TOURNAMENT PREVIEW: Valspar Collegiate Invitational

PALM CITY, Fla. – The Texas A&M men's golf team returns to action at the talent-laden Valspar Collegiate Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Floridian National Golf Club.
The tournament makes three loops around the par-71, 7,088-yard layout featuring 36 holes on Monday and the final round on Tuesday. Both days feature 7:30 a.m. shotgun starts.
The 15-team field is loaded with elite players, including nine teams ranked in the top 25 of the Scoreboard Ranking powered by Clippd. The field boasts No. 1 Auburn along with four other squads in the top 10.
Texas A&M enters play fresh off its third tournament victory of the season at the Louisiana Classics. The Aggies posted a 24-under 840 to win the event by seven strokes, marking their fourth title at the tournament in the last five seasons.
Jaime Montojo led the Aggies in Lafayette with a tie for eighth place at 6-under 2010, continuing his strong play. Aaron Pounds, Shiv Parmar and Kris Kuvaas added top-15 finishes.
The Aggies lineup at the Valspar features Pounds, Wheaton Ennis, Montojo, Parmar and Jack Usner.
Texas A&M looks to improve on last year's performance at the tournament, where the Aggies finished seventh at 16-under 836. Phichaksn Maichon led the team individually with a tie for eighth place at 8-under 205.
Historically, the Maroon & White have found success at the event, producing three third-place finishes and multiple top individual performances, including medalist honors for Greg Yates in 2015.
