COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M third baseman Nico Partida was selected as Perfect Game's Midseason Freshman of the Year, as announced by the publication Tuesday.
Partida has started at third base in each of the Aggies' first 27 games. The rookie owns a .320/.413/.563 slash line with 23 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven home runs and four doubles. His seven long balls rank second on the team and first among SEC freshmen. The Manvel, Texas, native has logged 11 multi-hit performances along with six multi-RBI games.
His best performance of the season came in the Sunday finale with Georgia, logging a career-best four hits and six RBI. Partida blasted the first grand slam of his career in the fourth inning to break the game open, 10-1. In the middle game at Missouri, he logged the first multi-homer performance of his career with a two-run shot in the fourth inning and a solo shot in the eighth frame.
