COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's basketball added graduate transfer PJ Haggerty, the No. 4 scorer in the nation this season, to the 2026-27 roster, head coach Bucky McMillan announced Thursday.
Haggerty comes to Aggieland after spending the 2025-26 season at Kansas State where he started all 31 games he appeared in. He ranked fourth nationally and second in the Big 12 averaging 23.4 points per game, while adding 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Wildcats. The 6-4, 195-pound guard tallied five 30-point games on the year, scoring a season-high 37 against Mississippi State.
Prior to his time in Manhattan, Haggerty made stops at Memphis and Tulsa after redshirting the 2022-23 season at TCU.
In 2024-25, he helped lead the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament after they claimed both an American Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season and tournament title. Haggerty was named a Second Team All-American by AP, USBWA and Sporting News, and a Third Team All-American by the NABC. He also finished as a top-five finalist for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award and a top-15 finalist for the John R. Wooden Award. The AAC Player of the Year played in all 35 games and averaged 21.7 points on 47.6-percent (248-of-521) shooting, adding 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Haggerty was invited to the NBA Draft Combine following his impressive sophomore season.
As a redshirt freshman at Tulsa, Haggerty started all 31 games, averaging 21.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The Crosby, Texas, native registered a pair of 30-point games, including a 32-point performance against USF. He was named the 2024 AAC Freshman of the Year, while also earning All-AAC Third Team honors.
