Aggies Take Series Opener Behind Peters’ Complete Game
Apr 17, 2026 | Softball
COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M's Sidne Peters tossed her first career SEC complete game in a 3-1 series-opening win over No. 14 Mississippi State on Friday night at Davis Diamond.
Peters (12-4) retired the first nine batters she faced before Mississippi State recorded its first hit. The junior limited the Bulldogs to four hits and one run before closing out the final two innings to secure her third complete game of the season.
Paislie Allen and Mya Perez powered the offense with solo home runs, while Micaela Wark scored a run. Texas A&M (32-12, 12-4 SEC) recorded three of its four hits with two outs and plated two runs in those situations.
The Aggies struck first in the opening inning when Perez launched a 237-foot solo home run. Wark drew a four-pitch walk, followed by a single up the middle from Ariel Kowalewski. Kelsey Mathis was then walked to load the bases before Wark scored on a wild pitch to give A&M a 2-0 lead.
Allen opened the second inning with a home run off the videoboard to extend the advantage to 3-0.
Mississippi State (34-12, 6-10 SEC) recorded its first hit with a leadoff single through the right side in the fourth, but Peters induced consecutive flyouts and a foul out to end the inning.
The Bulldogs threatened in the fifth with a hit batter and a walk, followed by an RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Peters continued to deal, allowing just a double in the sixth and a single in the seventh to secure the 3-1 victory.
