Gerald Peña joined the athletics department in January 2024 and currently serves as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. In his role Peña provides strength and conditioning programs for the nationally-ranked diving team. He also assists in the implementation of all strength and conditioning activities for Texas A&M’s Olympic sports while carrying out other duties and supporting the ethos of the department.
Peña has been a competitive Olympic weightlifter for five and a half years. He has competed in over 20 local meets and five nationally-accredited competitions. As part of his athletic career in weightlifting, Peña also provides programs and coaches athletes involved specifically with the sport of weightlifting.
Peña came to Texas A&M after spending time in Nebraska at Hastings College pursuing his master’s degree in arts of teaching. During his time there he oversaw men’s basketball and softball as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant.
A native of Kansas, Peña is the ultimate Chiefs fan. He enjoys grilling, reading and a round of disc golf.
Peña is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a USAW level 1 coach.
