GAME NOTES
Head Coach Michael Earley on the tough loss… "First off, congratulations to USC and Coach Stankiewicz, who is a heck of a coach. They played their tail off. As far as our team and these guys, I mean, we had a hell of a year. Obviously, this is not the outcome we wanted, but I'm super proud of them and their effort. We went through a lot, and we got to this point because of these guys and everyone in that clubhouse."
Gavin Grahovac on his time at Texas A&M University… "This place has changed my life more than I could have ever imagined. They took me in from California, a thousand miles away from home, and it felt like home immediately. I love this place with all my heart, and I always will. I can't thank Coach Earley enough for believing in me, for everything he's done over these past couple of years, and for letting me do what I've done. I can't thank my teammates enough, every staff member I've had here, all the players I've played with, all the support staff, everyone. There's nothing like this place, and I'll forever cherish it."
"The way I want to be remembered is that we changed this place, we made it better than when I showed up on campus. The class I came in with, and the freshman year that we had, it changed the program. It really showed how high the tide can go, and with Coach Earley at the head, there is so much that this team can accomplish. Obviously, on the hitting side of things, we were one of the best hitting teams in the country, and that's nothing new on his resume. Looking at where this program goes over the next couple of years, I think you're only going to see the greatest of Texas A&M. I'm super proud of what he's done here in his first two years, and how he has trusted all of us to lead this team."
Clayton Freshcorn on his first career start as an Aggie… "I wanted to try to keep it as similar as possible. I didn't want to change everything just because I was getting the ball in the first inning. I knew the job at hand, and I knew that I had to try to give everything I could to keep us in the ball game. As far as my mindset, I pretty much kept it the same; I just wanted to go out there one pitch at a time. And I mean, there's no worse feeling than this right now, for sure."
Bear Harrison on his teammate Clayton Freshcorn's pitching performance… "Yeah, just what he normally does, except it was the beginning of the game. He's been doing that all year, and I thought he did great. You know, that's the longest he's ever been stretched out this season, so I'm super proud of him. It was a very well-deserved moment for him to start that game, and everyone knew that. You know, he was the guy that was going to do that."
