Joe Girardi

Dr. Joe Girardi joined the Athletics Department in June 2024 as the Assistant AD of Football Rehab. Girardi’s position assists in the prevention, care, acute management and rehabilitation of injuries, including the provision of physical therapy services, for the Aggie football team.
Prior to joining A&M, Joe served as the Director of Rehab for Football at the University of Miami where he oversaw all rehabilitation, acute and chronic, for the University of Miami football team. During his time at the University of Miami, Joe was assistant faculty within the school’s Sports Physical Therapy Residency where he served as a mentor to residents within the Hecht Athletic Center training room and weight room. He also lectured on the athletic knee and abnormal running gait while consulting for the University’s track and field team. Prior to his time within the University of Miami’s athletic department Joe served as a Physical Therapist within the UHealth outpatient clinics specializing in Orthopedics.
Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Joe spent four years as the Director of Strength and Conditioning (2012-2016) at the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) where he oversaw all varsity sports as well as a staff of assistant strength coaches and graduate assistants within the Malone Stadium weight room. Joe had direct oversite of the Warhawk football team as well as the men’s and women’s golf and tennis teams. During his time as Director of Strength and Conditioning he also oversaw the complete remodel of the Malone Stadium weight room which included new flooring, equipment, and a nutrition bar. Prior to serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at ULM, Joe served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at ULM (2011-2012), with direct oversite of the Warhawk men’s and women’s basketball, golf, and tennis teams, and the lead assistant for the Warhawk football team. He also served as a Graduate Assistant at ULM (2009-2011) with direct oversite over the men’s basketball team while assisting with the football team.
Joe is a double graduate of the University of Miami, receiving a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (2020) and a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology (2009). He also earned his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Louisiana Monroe (2011). Prior to earning his degrees Joe was a student athlete at the University of Miami lettering in football playing center for two seasons (2005-2007). Joe is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Sports Clinical Specialty. He also holds certifications in strength and conditioning through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) and USA Track and Field.
Originally from Pembroke Pines, Florida, Joe currently resides in Bryan-College Station.
