COLLEGE STATION – Looking to bounce back after a setback at Vanderbilt Thursday night, the No. 8 Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to action at Reed Arena Saturday afternoon, hosting 25th-ranked South Carolina at 3 p.m.
The Aggies (18-4; 7-2 SEC) still own a share of the top spot in the SEC standings alongside LSU, but the Gamecocks (19-3; 6-3 SEC) are just one game back in a tight league race.
Saturday's SEC showdown will be nationally televised on ESPNU with Mike Morgan calling the play-by-play, Chris Spatola providing color commentary and Kayce Smith reporting. Additionally, radio coverage will be provided on the Aggie Sports Network, which can be heard locally in the Bryan/College Station area on WTAW (1620 AM).
The first 1,000 fans at the contest will receive a free, limited edition Texas A&M t-shirt, while prior to the game all kids sixth grade and younger can enjoy Kid's Court in the men's practice gym from 2-2:40 p.m. Kids court is free and features inflatables, basketballs, arts & crafts, coloring and more.
Additionally, Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day and features a "Remembering Our Fallen" display. The exhibit is a war memorial that consists of individual state memorials created to remember our country's fallen from the war on terror since the Twin Towers fell on September 11, 2001. Our state memorial includes military and personal photos of our fallen who called Texas home and died from physical wounds suffered in the war zone while wearing our country's uniform. This memorial will be located on the south concourse.
Texas A&M has shown the ability to bounce back from adversity as the Aggies are 3-0 following a loss this season. Additionally, the return to Reed Arena is a welcome site for the team as Texas A&M is a perfect 13-0 on its home court this season and 44-7 inside the facility the last three seasons.
South Carolina, meanwhile, is also trying to bounce back after falling 69-56 at Georgia on Saturday for just its third loss this season. The Gamecocks turned heads nationally as they began the 2015-16 campaign with 15 consecutive victories under fourth-year head coach Frank Martin.
