COLLEGE STATION – No. 22 Texas A&M Softball hosts Prairie View A&M Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Davis Diamond.

The Aggies are coming off a 4-1 opening weekend at the Aggie Classic with a pair of run-rule victories over Cal Baptist and Northern Colorado. Texas A&M scored 53 runs in the tournament, the most runs scored in program history in the first five games of a season since 1993, as 11 Aggies made their first appearance in a Texas A&M uniform.
Payton McBride led the way for the Aggies at the plate and in the circle. The junior posted a .750 batting average with a double, six RBI and her first career home run. McBride recorded three victories in four appearances and struck out 16 in 14.2 innings pitched. Riley Sartain dazzled at the plate as the senior went 7-for-13 with three doubles, three home runs and eight RBI.
The Lady Panthers enter the contest with a 3-1 record after competing at the Southern University Tournament. Prairie View is led by Destinee Williams, who leads the team with a .556 average, four runs scored and three RBI.
Wednesday's meeting between the Lady Panthers and the Aggies will be the sixth in program history with the Aggies holding a 5-0 record. Prairie View A&M becomes the first team to make multiple trips to Davis Diamond, as the Lady Panthers appeared in the NCAA College Station Regional last year. A&M won the lone game against PVAMU, 9-0.
