Comeback Falls Short at South Carolina

Following a slow start to begin the game, Randy Bond put the Aggies on the scoreboard, splitting the uprights with a career-long 51-yard field goal as Texas A&M trailed halfway through the first quarter, 17-3.
The Gamecocks threatened to extend their lead late in the first quarter, but freshman Bryce Anderson ripped the ball from Juju McDowell for his first career forced fumble. The Aggies capitalized on the turnover with a successful 26-yard field goal by Bond to make it 17-6 with 13:30 left in the first half.
Momentum continued to favor the Maroon & White as Haynes King connected with Max Wright for a 9-yard touchdown pass, capping a 13-play, 94-yard and 8:04 drive. Following a successful two-point completion from King to Evan Stewart, the Aggies cut the difference to 17-14 at the halfway point.
Texas A&M kept the pressure on as Fadil Diggs sacked Spencer Rattler, causing a fumble that Anderson fell on for his second recovery of the night. Moments later, Devon Achane found the end zone on a 15-yard rushing score to bring the Aggies within three, 24-21.
A late fourth quarter touchdown by South Carolina ended Texas A&M's chance of a comeback, making it 30-21 with three minutes left.
After a 28-yard field goal by Bond with 10 seconds remaining, the Aggies saw one last glimmer of hope with a successful onside kick recovery before the clock hit zero after two incomplete passes.
