No. 14 Texas A&M Claims Series Over No. 25 Auburn, 3-2
Mar 23, 2024 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M softball team claimed the series over No. 25 Auburn, 3-2, Saturday evening at Davis Diamond. Texas A&M's 7-1 record in SEC play is the best start in program history.
The duo of Kramer Eschete and Koko Wooley terrorized Auburn as Wooley drove in Eschete to tie the game and give Texas A&M (27-4, 7-1 SEC) a lead in the third and fifth inning. Allie Enright added a solo home run in the sixth, which proved to be a necessary insurance run as Auburn (15-8-1, 2-6 SEC) homered in the seventh.
Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Eschete led off with a double and advanced to third following a wild pitch. Wooley hit into a fielder's choice scoring Eschete to even the score. Eschete continued to be a menace after leading off with a single in the fifth, followed by stealing her eighth stolen base of the season. Wooley bounced a high chopper over the left side infield as Eschete turned on the afterburners scoring from second for the lead.
Shaylee Ackerman earned her sixth win of the season, while recording her fourth career complete game. The senior struck out two batters, while yielding three hits and two walks.
The series victory marks the first time since 2017 the Aggies have won three straight SEC series to begin league play.
