Aggies Announce 2025 Team Award Winners

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – A trio of MVPs highlighted the list of Texas A&M soccer team award winners released Thursday. Trinity Buchanan, Kat Campbell and Bella Yakel earned Most Valuable Player recognition in a vote among the squad.
Buchanan warranted recognition as the Offensive MVP. The junior led the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She provided late-match heroics, including three clutch goals for Aggies. The first tally came in the 87th minute of Texas A&M's 1-0 victory over Lamar. The next match she blasted an 81st minute goal to salvage a 1-1 tie against Texas State. She also scored a 68th minute goal in Texas A&M's 1-0 win over Texas in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown. Buchanan also claimed the team's Leading Scorer Award.
Campbell claimed Midfield MVP distinction. The sophomore was a stalwart as one of the squad's holding mids. She started all 17 matches. Defensively she helped the Maroon & White register a 1.18 goals-against average on the season. Offensively she provided an assist against Lafayette.
Yakel garnered Defensive MVP merit. The senior never left the pitch, playing 1,530 minutes. With Yakel marshaling the backline, the Maroon & White registered five shutouts on the year, including three in SEC action. She tacked on three points with one goal and one assist. The assist was on the lone goal in A&M's victory over Texas. Yakel scored the winning goal in the Aggies' 2-1 win against Missouri.
Four other awards were decided by a team vote.
Riley Crooks was elected the Newcomer of the Year. The freshman ranked second on the squad with 1,504 minutes on the pitch. Anchoring the backline as a center back, she played the full 90 minutes in 15 of the 17 matches, including the last 12 of the season. She provided an assist on the game-winning goal against UConn.
Leah Diaz battled through injury all season to pick up the "Farmers Fight" Perseverance Award. She played in 14 matches, including two starts. Diaz ranked third on the squad with 10 points on three goals and four assists. She also snagged the team's Assist Leader Award.
Reese Rupe was bestowed the 12th Man Award appearing in 13 matches off the bench. Descheneaux earned the Spirit of Aggieland Award, for her positive attitude as a teammates, leader and Aggie. The only senior to spend all four years in Aggieland appeared in two matches.
The coaching and support staff selected Lucy Landherr as the Most Improved, Maysen Veronda as the Iron Aggie and Kennedy Clark as the Lafield Academic Excellence Award recipients.
Landherr played in 13 matches, including three starts. She saw limited action early in the season, averaging 20 minutes per in her first nine appearances, all off the bench. Landherr earned three starts and averaged 70 minutes in her final four matches before suffering a season-ending injury.
Veronda was recognized for her commitment in the area of strength, conditioning and sports performance with the Iron Aggie Award. The redshirt freshman started 10 matches as goalkeeper, registering 33 saves, a 1.26 goals-against average and three shutouts.
Clark was celebrated for her performance in the classroom. The Fort Wright, Kentucky, native sports a 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in biomedical sciences. She played in 14 matches, with nine starts, recording one assist on the year.
