Aggies Doomed by Miscues in 7-2 Loss to No. 13 Texas Tech
Mar 01, 2025 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 5 Texas A&M softball team suffered its second loss of the season after four errors doomed the Aggies to a 7-2 defeat against No. 13 Texas Tech on day three of the Texas A&M Invitational at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (18-2) put itself in a hole early after suffering two fielding errors in the top half of the opening frame, while Texas Tech (18-5) capitalized by adding two hits and plating three runs.
The Maroon & White answered in the bottom of the first after Kennedy Powell reached on a fielding error and scored after Olivia Johnson singled on a diving effort by the Texas Tech second baseman.
Texas A&M continued to shoot itself in the foot after its third fielding error was followed by two runs, before Johnson caught a Red Raider attempting to steal second to end the top half. After A&M was held scoreless for three innings, the Aggies mustered their second run in the fifth inning after Kramer Eschete reached on a fielding and scored after Mac Barbara doubled to left center to trail 5-2 after five innings of action.
Texas Tech extinguished all hope of any comeback with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to lead 7-2.
