Aggies Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games in Series Opening Win over No. 6 LSU

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 3 Texas A&M softball team extended its winning streak to 10 games after taking the series opener against No. 6 LSU, 12-7, Friday night at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (35-5, 9-3 SEC) scored in all but one inning, including four crooked frames. Seven different Aggies registered a hit, including Mya Perez, Mac Barbara, Allie Enright, and Olivia Johnson with multiple hits.
The Aggies punched first in the opening inning after Amari Harper was hit-by-pitch and Perez singled before Barbara cleared the fences with a 254-foot rocket to right center to put the Aggies up 3-0.
LSU (35-6, 8-5 SEC) countered with four runs in the second behind six straight hits before adding another on a sacrifice fly to lead 5-3. Ol' Sarge's charges answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half as Harper scored Kelsey Mathis on a sacrifice fly and Perez doubled to right field to score Kennedy Powell.
After a scoreless third frame, the Maroon & White loaded the bases after Perez recorded her second double of the night, followed by consecutive walks from Barbara and Koko Wooley. Enright put the Aggies back in front with a two-RBI single to center field, while KK Dement reached on an error to score Wooley and Johnson laid a textbook sacrifice bunt to score Enright as Texas A&M carried a 9-5 lead through four innings.
The Tigers continued to gift the Aggies free passes as Powell led off the fifth with a hit-by-pitch and Harper walked. Perez poked a double just inches short of a home run to right field to score Powell, while Barbara singled to left field scoring Harper to increase the Aggie advantage to 11-5. A&M added an insurance run in the sixth after Powell scored for the third time of the night on a Harper single.
After a pair of Aggie errors, LSU scored a run on a sac fly and an RBI walk before Aggie starter Emiley Kennedy closed the door shut forcing a line out and fly out to complete the win, 12-7.
Kennedy went the distance striking out five batters, while yielding four walks and five earned runs. The senior moved 13-3 on the season.

- Mya Perez recorded a career-high four hits, including multiple doubles in a game for the first time in her career. The sophomore became the first Aggie since 2014 to register three doubles in a game when April Ryan accomplished the feat against Lamar.
- Mac Barbara recorded her 12th multi-RBI game of the season after she blasted her sixth home run of the season in the opening frame. The graduate finished 2-for-2, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB.
- Amari Harper started her 125th career game and extended her career-high on-base streak to 15 games. The junior finished the night 1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 HBP.
- Despite going 1-for-4 at the plate, Kennedy Powell paced the Aggies with three runs for the third time this season.
- Junior Gracyn Coleman walked in her lone plate appearance of the night, marking it her fifth straight plate appearance with a walk going back to the series opener at No. 16 Georgia.
- In the last 10 games, the Aggie offense has reached double-digits in the hit and run columns seven times scoring 12 runs on 13 hits tonight. It marked the 16th game this season to score 10-plus runs, while it's the fourth game with at least five doubles.
- Tonight's attendance of 2,361 is the 10th largest crowd in Davis Diamond history, while seven of the top 10 have come this season.
- The Aggies registered their 14th comeback win of the season after being down 5-2 at the bottom of the second, coming away with a win.
- SCORIGAMI! Texas A&M added its first 12-7 victory in program history. A scorigami refers to a final score that has never occurred in Aggie history.
