No. 8 Aggies Fall in Five-Set Battle at No. 15 TCU, 3-2
Sep 10, 2025 | Volleyball
FORT WORTH – The No. 8 Texas A&M volleyball team dropped a hard-fought battle at No. 15 TCU Wednesday evening at Schollmaier Arena, 3-2 (24-26, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12).
Texas A&M (5-2) narrowly dropped a five-set marathon versus the Horned Frogs (4-1), despite an impressive offensive output behind Emily Hellmuth's season-high 20 kills.
The Aggies started the match as the aggressor, racing out to an early 9-3 advantage. Texas A&M held the gap through the midway point of the set, as TCU huddled up for the second time in the set (16-10). The Horned Frogs battled their way back, forcing extras after being tied at 24, but the Maroon & White struck with back-to-back points to take the opener, 26-24.
Nothing separated the teams to the media timeout in the second set, as they were knotted 10 occasions with Texas A&M up one at the pause (15-14). Continuing to trade points, the teams were once level again at 21 before the hosts pushed ahead to level the match (25-22), 1-1.
The teams battled out of the gate in third, however Morgan Perkins at the service line became the difference as she led the Maroon & White on a five-point charge forcing a Horned Frog timeout, 12-6. The Maroon & White didn't let TCU get within three, regaining the upper hand in the contests (25-19), 2-1.
In similar fashion to the previous two sets, the teams were split by only one point as the hosts hit double-digits first (10-9). TCU created a gap that would hold despite persistence from the Maroon & White, as they forced a fifth-and-final set (25-21), 2-2.
TCU came out on the front foot in the deciding frame, leading by two as the programs switched ends (8-6). The Aggies battled back forging a one-point advantage (11-10), however the hosts flipped the momentum back to their side and took the set (15-12) and match, 3-2.
