No. 11 Aggies Drop 4-2 Decision to No. 3 Longhorns

AUSTIN – The No. 11 Texas A&M men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision in the first road edition of the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Friday night at the Texas Tennis Center.
The Aggies (11-6, 4-3 SEC) gained the early advantage after grabbing the doubles point. After dropping court 2, the Maroon & White responded with wins on court 3 and 1. Junior Lathan Skrobarcek and sophomore Alex Frusina defeated Jonah Braswell and Kalin Ivanovski on court 3, 6-4. Senior Togan Tokac and sophomore Theo Papamalamis earned a ranked win on court 1 over the No. 13 tandem of Sebastian Gorzny and Lucas Marionneau, 7-6(5).
In singles action, the Longhorns (14-5, 5-1 SEC) took three straight courts to put them one away from the clinch. Freshman Markus Molder got the Aggies' only singles point on court 4 over Braswell, 6-4, 6-3.
Skrobarcek and Tiago Pires were the last two standing. After they both claimed their first sets, Texas forced to split. The Longhorns gained momentum in the third, taking court 6 to take the match.
The Aggies stay on the road to face the No. 6 LSU Tigers Sunday at 12 p.m.
