Aggies Claim Series Opener Over No. 11 Georgia, 3-2

COLLEGE STATION – Madi Sauni delivered a two-out, pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning to lift No. 15 Texas A&M to a 3-2 win over No. 11 Georgia in Thursday night's series opener at Davis Diamond.
Sydney Lessentine (10-3) earned the win, tossing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts while allowing two runs on four hits. The sophomore right-hander held the Bulldogs to a .166 batting average.
Seven Aggies recorded a hit, while Sauni, Mya Perez and Micaela Wark each drove in a run.
Texas A&M (25-11, 7-3 SEC) struck first in the bottom of the third, stringing together three consecutive hits. Perez highlighted the frame with an RBI double, followed by an RBI single from Wark to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.
Georgia (27-9, 6-4 SEC) evened the score at 2-2 in the sixth, capitalizing on a walked batter and a two-out, two-run home run.
Ol' Sarge's charges responded in the bottom half of the inning as Sauni entered as a pinch hitter and lined an RBI single to score Kelsey Mathis, giving the Aggies a 3-2 advantage.
Sidne Peters closed out the game to earn her second save of the season, inducing three popouts in the seventh.
