Sims Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M right-handed pitcher Aiden Sims was selected as SEC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
The Aggies (26-5, 7-5) finished the week with a 3-1 record, delivering a Tuesday win over Sam Houston and topping Vanderbilt in two games over the weekend to claim the series.
Sims earned the first SEC weekly honor of his career after dealing a seven-inning shutout in the finale over Vanderbilt to clinch the series. The shutout marked the first complete game of the sophomore's career. In 7.0 innings of work, Sims punched out eight batters while allowing just three hits and two walks on 117 pitches. He tossed strikes on 66% of his pitches and limited hitters to a .125 batters average against. The win marked Sims' third consecutive conference win.
On the season, Sims owns a 6-0 record in eight starts with a 3.32 ERA, 48 strikeouts and a 1.04 WHIP.
The Maroon & White hit the road for midweek action at Texas State on beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday night from Bobcat Ballpark.
