No. 20 Baseball Drops Series Opener to Vanderbilt

The Aggies (23-6, 5-5), mashed five home runs, with Caden Sorrell and Bear Harrison each sending two balls out of the yard.
The Commodores (19-12, 6-4) were first on the board with a pair of solo homers in the opening frame.
Jorian Wilson cut the lead in half in the second inning with a skyscraper home run to right-center field, traveling 378 feet with an exit velocity of 111 miles per hour.
Vanderbilt answered in the top of the third with three runs to go up, 5-1.
Sorrell scratched a run back for the Maroon & White in the bottom half of the third with a solo homer to right-center. Vanderbilt's Collin Barczi matched the score in the fourth with his second solo shot of the game.
The Aggies spotted three runs in the fifth inning to get back within a run. Harrison led off the frame with an opposite-field jack and Sorrell brought two more home on his second long ball of the game to right-center field.
The visitors matched the three-spot in the top of the sixth as Barczi launched his third homer of the game to score two. A bases-loaded walk plated the Commodores' third run of the inning.
In the bottom half, Harrison put the Maroon & White back in reach with a three-run round-tripper to left field, making it a 9-8 ballgame. The junior's second homer of the contest traveled 442 feet with a 107 mile-per-hour exit velocity.
Vanderbilt extended the lead with two runs in the eighth inning and capped the scoring at 14-6 with a three-spot in the ninth.
Shane Sdao (3-2) made the start and suffered the loss for the Aggies, allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits. The righty punched out 10 batters in 5.0 innings pitched. The Aggies brought six relievers out of the bullpen but could not contain the Commodores' offensive attack.

- Thursday's opener marked the 30th meeting all-time between the clubs. Despite the loss, Texas A&M still leads the series 16-14.
- Blue Bell Park held 5,543 fans for the series opener.
- Sdao's strikeout of Mancini in the fourth inning marked the 150th of his career.
- Sorrell extended his hitting streak to 12 games and has reached base safely in the last 23 contests.
- The junior logged his team-best 13th multi-RBI performance and 14th multi-hit game. He also recorded his fourth multi-homer performance of the season.
- Harrison logged a season-best four RBI.
