COLLEGE STATION – he No. 12 Texas A&M softball team dropped a twin bill to No. 1 Oklahoma, 4-3 and 6-4, Saturday afternoon at Davis Diamond.

Texas A&M (36-16, 16-8 SEC) mounted late rallies in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, but came up short as Oklahoma (48-7, 20-4 SEC) capitalized on 15 free passes, including 13 walks and two hit batters across the two contests.

Tallen Edwards paced the Aggie offense, going 4-for-7 with a home run and a double. Kennedy Powell also recorded multiple hits on the day, including a solo homer, while Paislie Allen added a three-run blast in Game 2. Kelsey Mathis chipped in multiple hits.

In Game 1, the teams traded three scoreless innings before Oklahoma broke through in the fourth, scoring three runs on two hits and three walks.

Texas A&M answered in the fifth, cutting the deficit to one when Frankie Vrazel singled and Powell launched a two-run homer to right. Edwards followed with a solo shot to knot the game at 3-3.

The Sooners reclaimed the lead in the sixth on a two-out RBI triple down the right-field line and held on for the 4-3 win.

Kate Munnerlyn (3-5) was charged with the loss after tossing 2.1 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one. Sidne Peters started and worked 3.2 innings with four strikeouts, surrendering three runs on three hits and four walks. Grace Sparks closed out the game with one inning of relief, recording one strikeout.

In the rubber match, Oklahoma jumped out early with a solo home run before adding a two-out three-run homer later in the inning for a 4-0 lead.

After three consecutive scoreless frames from both teams, the Sooners added a run in the fifth on a fielding error before a solo homer in the sixth pushed the lead to 6-0.

Facing their final three outs, the Aggies mounted one last rally, scoring four runs on three hits. Mathis drove in a run with an RBI single before Allen blasted a three-run homer, but Oklahoma recorded the final two outs to secure the 6-4 victory.

Sydney Lessentine (14-4) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits and one walk across 2.0 innings. Taylor Pannell followed with 3.0 innings, striking out three while allowing two runs on three hits and four walks. Sparks closed the game with 2.0 scoreless innings.

UP NEXT
Texas A&M enters the SEC Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky, as the No. 6 seed and will play Wednesday at 10 a.m. against the winner of Missouri and Auburn.

GAME NOTES

Mya Perez reached base in both games to extend her on-base streak to 55 games. The sophomore finished the regular season as the only Division I softball player to reach base safely in every game this season.
Tallen Edwards recorded a career-high four hits in Game 1.
Kennedy Powell recorded a hit in each game and posted multiple hits in the first and final games of the series.
Powell logged her 25th multi-hit game of the season, matching Keeli Milligan (2016) for the most by an Aggie since Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2013.
Kelsey Mathis joined Powell as the only Aggies to record a hit in all three games of the series.
Paislie Allen homered for the sixth time this season and matched her career high with three RBI.
The Aggies hit back-to-back home runs for the fourth time this season and recorded multiple home runs in a game for the 20th time in Game 1.
Texas A&M finished the regular season 36-16 overall and 16-8 in SEC play, tying for fourth in the conference standings. The top-four finish marks the third straight season, while the 16 SEC wins match the 2025 and 2017 squads for the program's most conference victories since joining the league in 2013.
