Men’s Basketball Set to Host Texas Southern

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to action Thursday to take on Texas Southern at 7 p.m. at Reed Arena.
The Aggies started the season Monday night with a commanding 98-68 victory over Northwestern State for head coach Bucky McMillan's first victory with the Aggies and the 100th of his college coaching career. The 98 points marked the most for the Aggies in a season opener since the 2018-19 season. As a team, the Maroon & White saw five players score in double figures, with 53 of their 98 points coming off the bench. They controlled the paint, holding a 44-32 rebounding advantage while outscoring the Demons 48-24.
Rubén Dominguez led the way in his college debut with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Josh Holloway had an efficient night, shooting 83-percent from the field (5-6) to finish with 13 points. He added four assists and two steals. Rylan Griffen also had 13 points and four assists in the win, to go with a career-best three steals.
Thursday marks the 12th all-time meeting between the Aggies and Tigers as A&M holds a 10-1 advantage in the series. The two teams last met in 2019 when the Aggies claimed a 58-55 victory at Reed Arena.
