Feb 25, 2026 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team is slated to host the Texas A&M Invitational beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. against Houston at Davis Diamond.
The Maroon & White return to action Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Kennesaw State, followed by Louisiana at 7 p.m. Saturday features another doubleheader against Kennesaw State at 4:30 p.m. and Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. Sunday wraps up with Louisiana at 1:30 p.m.
OL' RELIABLE
Senior Kennedy Powell has been a fixture at the hot corner, starting every game of the 2026 season at third base. Since joining the Aggies in 2024, she has appeared in 133 games with 132 starts. Powell began the season scoring at least one run in each of the first 10 games and has scored in 13 games this year.
Powell and Mya Perez are the only Aggies to reach base safely in every game this season, owning a nation-leading 19-game streak dating to 2025. Powell has also stolen an NCAA-leading 32 consecutive bases, a streak that dates to early February 2024 after finishing a perfect 19-for-19 in stolen base attempts in 2025.
The Conroe, Texas, native has hit safely in 15 of 16 games and is batting .531 (17-for-32) with eight runs, six RBI and four doubles. As the primary leadoff hitter, Powell led the team with 63 runs in 2025, setting a program single-season record. Texas A&M posted a 36-5 record in games in which she scored. She tied the program record for most runs in an SEC season with 24 and ranked second in the league in stolen bases and third in runs.
VRAZEL DAZZLE
Frankie Vrazel led the Aggies at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, going 9-for-19 with four RBI, two runs and one double. She recorded multiple hits in four of six games.
The sophomore has been a catalyst at the bottom of the order, consistently turning the lineup over. Vrazel is batting a team-best .579 (11-for-19) with the bases empty and owns a .619 on-base percentage in those situations. She is batting .400 (10-for-25) over the last 10 games and leads the team against ranked opponents with a .471 average, eight hits, one double, two RBI and two runs.
TEXAS A&M INVITATIONAL
Thursday marks Texas A&M's 10th game this season against a power conference opponent. The Aggies are 23-11 all-time against Houston and have won the last three meetings in the Trisha Ford era, outscoring the Cougars 30-6 during that span.
Texas A&M (10-6) will face Kennesaw State for the first time in program history. The Owls are led by 2021 Texas A&M Hall of Fame inductee Selena Collins-Patterson, who lettered for the Aggies from 2000-03 and helped lead the program to NCAA Regionals in each season. She earned All-America honors in 2002 and was named Big 12 Player of the Year after batting .331 with 16 home runs.
Texas A&M head coach Trisha Ford will face her alma mater Saint Mary's, where she remains the only softball player to have her number retired. She is the school's all-time leader in career batting average (.364), hits (230) and doubles (62), and still holds single-season records in batting average (.435), hits (77), doubles (25) and RBI (37). Ford is 6-2 all-time against Saint Mary's.
