Trio of Aggies Earn Midseason Accolades

COLLEGE STATION – Caden Sorrell, Nico Partida and Boston Kellner made waves Wednesday afternoon, earning midseason recognition from Baseball America and Perfect Game.
Sorrell was selected to the Midseason College Player of the Year Watch List and Partida was named to the Midseason College Freshman of the Year Watch List by Baseball America. Perfect Game recognized Sorrell as a Midseason Second Team All-American, while selecting Partida to the Freshman All-America First Team and Kellner to the Freshman All-America Second Team.
In 26 starts, Sorrell owns a slash line of .387/.472/.868. The junior outfielder has slugged a career-high 14 home runs along with nine doubles and four stolen bases. His 46 RBI rank second in the SEC and are tied for eighth-most in the nation. The Highland Village, Texas, native has logged 13 multi-hit games and leads the team with 12 multi-RBI performances. In conference games, Sorrell is batting .350 with five doubles, three homers and 10 RBI.
The lefty slugger is also leaving his mark in Texas A&M's record book as his 37 career home runs rank eighth in program history.
Partida has started at the hot corner in all 28 games this season. The rookie infielder owns a .346/.437/.589 slash line with 30 runs and 26 RBI. His seven home runs are tied for second in the Aggie lineup and lead all freshmen in the SEC. The Manvel, Texas, native has recorded 12 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI performances. Earlier in the week, Partida was honored by Perfect Game as the publication's Midseason Freshman of the Year.
Kellner has served as the starting shortstop in every game for the Maroon & White this year, slashing .294/.483/.518 with 29 runs, 22 RBI, seven doubles and four home runs. The Chandler, Arizona, native has reached base safely in all 28 games and has registered five multi-hit and multi-RBI performances. The freshman leads the team with 26 walks and his .483 on-base percentage ranks second in the lineup.
