No. 20 Baseball Topples Sam Houston in Midweek Matchup, 16-2

Six Aggies recorded multiple hits in the contest, marking the third time the Maroon & White have achieved the feat this season. The offense was charged by Nico Partida, who went 4-for-4 with three RBI and Jake Duer, who recorded his team-best 14th multi-hit game of the season and drove in four RBI.
The Aggies (23-5) got on the board in the opening frame behind a fielder's choice RBI from Duer, sending Caden Sorrell to the plate.
Sam Houston (14-14) responded with a run in the third inning to erase the Maroon & White's lead.
The Aggies responded in the fourth inning after a no-doubter solo shot to left field from Gavin Grahovac tacked on the first run of the inning. Grahovac's seventh long ball of the season traveled 443 feet and left the bat at 109 miles per hour. After Sorrell was hit by a pitch, Chris Hacopian and Duer drew consecutive walks to load the bases for Partida. The freshman ripped a double to left field, driving in Sorrell and Hacopian, while Duer scored on a throwing error. A first-pitch single from Blake Binderup plated Partida, putting the Maroon & White up, 6-1.
Sam Houston plated another run in the fifth inning, cutting the deficit to four runs.
Ol' Sarge's charges added three runs in the fifth inning behind consecutive doubles from Boston Kellner, Grahovac and Sorrell. Duer plated a run on an infield single, putting the Aggies up, 9-2.
The Maroon & White recorded a seven spot in the sixth inning to enter run-rule territory. Sorrell chalked the first run of the inning with an RBI groundout. A hard-hit double from Hacopian sent another run to the plate and Duer mauled a double off the left field wall to clear the bases. Partida added to the run parade with a single to right center, scoring Duer.
The inning was capped off with a 440-foot moonshot from Jorian Wilson that left the bat at 110 miles per hour, marking his fifth home run of the season.
Cole Hubert made his third career start for the Aggies, tossing 2.1 innings and recording a strikeout. Grant Cunningham (2-1) took over in the third and secured his second win of the season. The righty tossed 2.2 innings, allowing just one unearned run and striking out a pair. As a pitching staff, the Aggies struck out six batters and only allowed four hits on the evening. Cooper Powell secured the win, tossing a hitless seventh inning and striking out two batters.

B6 | Blake LaBuda was hit by pitch to start the frame. Kellner bounced an infield single to send LaBuda to second. Grahovac singled down the right field line, advancing both LaBuda and Kellner. Sorrell grounded out to advance each runner, scoring LaBuda. Hacopian doubled to right-center field, plating Kellner. Duer doubled off the left field wall sending Grahovac and Hacopian home.
