Texas A&M Lands 74 on Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll
Jun 30, 2026 | Baseball, Men's Golf, Men's Tennis, Track and Field, Softball, Women's Golf, Women's Tennis, Center for Student-Athlete Services
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M was represented by 74 student-athletes on the 2026 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced Tuesday.
"Our goals has always been to create well-rounded student-athletes, and I am proud that we are continuing to strive for excellence in the classroom," Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. "Our staff has remained steadfast in creating an environment where our student-athletes can thrive both on the field and off. Our individuals on the spring honor roll are proof that we are still prioritizing all of the foundational pieces of the student-athlete experience."
Women's track & field boasted 19 honorees, while baseball followed with 16. Softball locked in 14 student-athletes on the honor roll, which was the most for the program since joining the SEC in 2012.
"Congratulations to all Texas A&M student-athletes named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll," Executive Associate Athletic Director - Academics and Student-Athlete Engagement Dr. Dan Childs said. "This is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the relentless commitment these young men and women bring to every area of their lives. Being a student-athlete at this level is demanding — the time, the travel, the physical and mental grind of competing at the highest level of college athletics — and yet these individuals found a way to excel in the classroom as well. A 3.0 GPA is not given; it is earned and earning it while carrying out the responsibilities of a Division I student-athlete makes it all the more meaningful. We are incredibly proud of each of them and grateful for the example they set for their teammates and for Aggie student athletes to come. Gig 'Em!"
The following criteria was followed:
(1) A student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution.
(2) If a student-athlete attends summer school, his/her grade point average during the summer academic term must be included in the calculation used to determine eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll.
(3) Student-athletes eligible for the Honor Roll include those receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student-athletes who have been on a varsity team for two seasons.
(4) Prior to being nominated, a student-athlete must have successfully completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of non-remedial academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree at the nominating institution.
(5) The student-athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
