
Aggies Claim Lid Lifter of Doubleheader, 19-2

Texas A&M's offensive explosion boasted 15 hits, including one double, two triples and three home runs to go with 10 walks. Eleven players scored for the Aggies, including all nine players in the starting lineup.
Nick Choruby, George Janca, Logan Foster, Hunter Coleman and Jorge Gutierrez each logged two hits. Catchers Coleman and Gutierrez combined to go 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, two home runs and five RBI in the No. 9 spot in the order. Coleman batted 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple and two RBI. Gutierrez blasted home runs in his first two career at-bats, going 2-for-2 with three RBI.
The Aggies drew first blood with a run in the bottom of the first. With one out, Austin Homan drew a walk and an error by shortstop Nick Glanzman trying to catch the throw from starting pitcher Brad Croy on Braden Shewmake's bouncer back to the mound put two runners on. Homan moved to third on a flyout by Walker Pennington and came home to score on Joel Davis' single to rightfield.
The Maroon and White tacked on three more runs in the second. With one out, Cam Blake singled to rightfield and moved to second on an error. Coleman followed with a wall-banger to centerfield for a triple, plating Blake. Choruby followed with a two-run dinger off the rightfield foul pole for his first career home run and a 4-0 lead.
Bowling Green showed signs of life in the fifth when Jeff Scott hit a one-out solo home run to cut the lead to 4-1, but the wheels came off the wagon for the Falcons in the home half of the inning.
Texas A&M smothered Bowling Green with nine runs in the bottom of the ninth. The first five batters of the inning drew walks. Janca, Foster, Coleman and Pennington all plated runs with singles and Shewmake knocked in two runs with a single.
The Aggies closed out strong with two runs in the sixth and four runs in the eighth.
Stephen Kolek (1-0) earned the victory for Texas A&M, yielding one run on three hits while striking out three in 5.0 innings. He threw just 57 pitches but was lifted after the Aggies took nearly 40 minutes batting in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Landon Miner pitched 2.0 blank frames, retiring all six batters he faced in relief. Kyle Richardson allowed one run in the eighth, on two hits, while striking out one. Mason Cole faced four batters in a scoreless ninth with one walk and one strikeout.
Brad Croy (0-1) was saddled with the loss. He allowed six runs, five earned, on four hits and three walks, while striking out two in 4.0 innings.
