Lessentine Tosses First Career No-Hitter in Run-Rule Victory
Feb 28, 2025 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Sydney Lessentine tossed her first career no-hitter, while KK Dement blasted her first career grand slam and Frankie Vrazel hit her first career home run as the Aggies run-ruled George Washington, 12-0, in five innings on day two of the Texas A&M Invitational at Davis Diamond.
Lessentine highlighted the night by throwing the first no-hitter by an Aggie freshman since Rhiannon Kliesing in 2008. The rookie recorded double digit strikeouts for the second time in her career fanning 11 of the 16 batters she faced, including eight consecutive. George Washington (x-x) mustered one runner on base all night after Allison Heffley was hit by a pitch in the opening frame.
Texas A&M (18-1) got the party started early after Kennedy Powell singled and Mya Perez homered to center to lead 2-0 after the first inning. After a pair of scoreless frames, the scene escalated as the Aggies hung 10 on six hits, including a Vrazel two-run dinger, Powell two-RBI triple and a Dement grand slam. In the fourth inning alone, Ol' Sarge's charges sent 16 to the dish as Vrazel was the lone Aggie to get a hit each time.
