No. 4 Aggies Host No. 3 Florida on SEC Opening Weekend

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 4 Texas A&M softball team is set to host No. 3 Florida on SEC Opening Weekend, marking the first ever top five showdown in Aggieland. First pitch for game one is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (20-2) continues action Saturday at 4 p.m., while the series finale against Florida (24-1) is Sunday at 12 p.m. All three games can be streamed on SEC Network+ with Aggie legend and Olympian Tori Vidales (analyst) and Will Johnson (play-by-play) on the call.
HOME OF THE 12TH MAN
The Aggies own a 149-46 (.764) record at Davis Diamond since it opened in 2018 and are 57-9 in the Trisha Ford era. Texas A&M is 38-3 the last two seasons, including an 11-1 record this year. The Aggies have posted three of the program's top five attendance marks this season, including a program record 2,754 against Texas Tech on March 1, after having 2,522 against George Washington on Feb. 28. The 12th Man is regarded as one of the most dedicated fan bases in the nation and are ranked No. 4 in the nation averaging 2,221 fans per game in 2025.

Texas A&M is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll, the highest ranking for the Maroon & White since 2017. The NFCA, D1 Softball and Softball America each placed the Aggies at No. 5 for Week 4. As of Thursday, the Aggies rank top 20 in the nation in multiple categories, including No. 12 in ERA (1.78) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.86), while the offense is No. 18 in RBI (149) and No. 19 in scoring (7.45).
AGGIES IN THE SEC
Under Ford, the Maroon & White have won 11-of-16 SEC series and have finished in the league's final standings five positions higher than what it was picked in each of the seasons SEC coaches preseason poll. In 2024, the Aggies finished third in the regular season standings with a 15-9 record, while the 15 SEC wins were the second most in program history. Texas A&M enters SEC play with one of the top pitching staffs allowing the third fewest home runs (5), fourth fewest walks (37) and striking out the fourth most batters (143). Offensively, the Aggies' 190 hits rank fifth in the league.
TWO-OUT TERROR
Nearly 43% (71-of-164) of Texas A&M's run production this season has come on two-outs, while when facing ranked opponents 66% (27-of-41) of the runs have come with one out remaining. Freshman KK Dement has led the party with runners on base and two outs hitting 10-for-21 with 15 RBI, three home runs and two doubles. Graduate Mac Barbara follows with 12 RBI and sophomore Mya Perez with 11 RBI. Most recently, the Aggies scored 20-of-39 (51%) runs on two outs at the Texas A&M Invitational, including 5-of-7 in Sunday's win over No. 13 Texas Tech. In its true first road test, Texas A&M overwhelmed No. 8 Florida State sparking a comeback by scoring all six runs on two outs to win the first game of a doubleheader in extra innings, 6-3. Ol' Sarge's charges didn't stop there as they scored eight of 11 runs in game two to sweep the Seminoles 11-4. It marked the first doubleheader sweep on the road against a top 10 opponent in program history.
