Offense Explodes as No. 23 Baseball Run-Rules Lamar, 25-5

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – No. 23 Texas A&M tallied 18 hits in 34 at-bats and drew 14 walks to rout Lamar, 25-5, in seven innings Tuesday night from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Fourteen Aggies reached base safely and 13 touched home plate to score at least one run. Nine of the Maroon & White's hits went for extra bases, including five home runs.
Caden Sorrell paced the offensive attack after a two-game hiatus from the lineup. The lefty slugger belted the Aggies' first grand slam of the season and mashed a solo-shot 452 feet that cleared the batter's eye in dead center field. He finished the contest 3-for-5 at the dish with six RBI and two runs scored. Boston Kellner and Travis Chestnut added home runs and Blake Binderup drilled a three-run shot to left-center field in a pinch-hit at-bat. Six batters in the Aggies' starting lineup logged multi-hit performances and five recorded multiple RBI.
Gavin Lyons (1-0) earned the win after tossing 4.0 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits. The Guilford, Connecticut, native fanned three batters and issued one walk. Cole Hubert, Grant Cunningham and Cooper Powell each tossed one inning of relief.
