No. 23 Baseball Drops Series Opener to No. 7 Georgia, 9-4

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – No. 23 Texas A&M fell in its SEC home opener to No. 7 Georgia by a 9-4 decision in front of 7,870 fans Friday night from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
A three-run homer from Henry Allen in the first inning put the Bulldogs (19-4) in front early. Georgia scratched another run across in the second inning on a Tre Phelps single to go up 4-0.
The Aggies (17-4) loaded the bases in the bottom of the second and cut the Bulldogs' lead in half on a two-RBI single to center field from Gavin Grahovac.
Michael O'Shaughnessy got a run back for Georgia in the third with a solo homer to right field.
The Bulldogs added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning and tacked on two more in the ninth behind a home run from Jordy Oriach to take a 9-2 lead.
Texas A&M fought back in the ninth with RBI singles from Grahovac and Chris Hacopian, but ultimately could not overcome the final five-run deficit.
Shane Sdao (3-1) was tabbed the starter for the Maroon & White. The lefty suffered his first loss of the 2026 campaign, allowing five earned runs on nine hits. He punched out 11 batters, marking a new career high for the Montgomery, Texas, native.
Juan Vargas was the first out of the bullpen for the Aggies, tossing 0.2 innings and logging a strikeout. Ethan Darden and Grant Cunningham followed but could not put a halt to the Georgia bats, allowing a pair of runs each. Cooper Powell recorded two outs in the top of the ninth, including one via strikeout.

- Blue Bell Park held 7,870 fans for the series opener, marking the 13th-largest crowd in the park's history and the sixth-most since the stadium was renovated in 2012.
