Apr 09, 2026 | Softball
OXFORD – The No. 13 Texas A&M softball team begins the second half of SEC play with a three-game series at Ole Miss starting Friday at 6 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium.
Game 2 of the series is set for Saturday at 2 p.m., while the series finale is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games can be streamed on SEC Network+ with Jake Hromada (play-by-play) and Carly Hummel (analyst) in the booth. Fans can also listen on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Willy 1550 AM, with Matt Simon calling the action in his 12th season as the voice of Texas A&M softball.
OLE MISS SERIES
Texas A&M (27-12, 8-4 SEC) holds a 21-5 lead in the all-time series, including a 7-2 mark in Oxford. The Aggies last visited in 2023, winning the series after dropping the opener. The Maroon & White swept Ole Miss (26-15, 2-10 SEC) at Davis Diamond in 2024, outscoring the Rebels 14-4. Since joining the SEC, Texas A&M has traveled to Oxford three times and won the series each trip, including a sweep in 2017.
OFFENSIVE PROWESS
The Aggies have homered in all but eight games this season and recorded multiple home runs in 15 contests. Texas A&M blasted a season-high five home runs in an 18-3 run-rule win over Sam Houston.
The Maroon & White have recorded at least one extra-base hit in all but one game this season. The lone exception came in Game 2 at Texas, snapping a 68-game streak. Since 2023, the Aggies have been held without an extra-base hit just 18 times.
Texas A&M is 16-3 when scoring in the first inning and 25-1 when leading after four innings.
The Aggies have excelled in situational hitting, with five players batting .400 or better with runners in scoring position. Kelsey Mathis leads the group, hitting .448 (13-for-29) with one home run, one triple, two doubles and 14 RBI in those situations.
Freshman Maddie Sauni has provided a spark off the bench, hitting .400 (4-for-10) with two doubles and three RBI while striking out just once. Sauni recently delivered a two-out, pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning to lift Texas A&M to a 3-2 win over No. 11 Georgia in the series opener.
MY-OH-MYA
Mya Perez has slashed .444/.615/.833 in seven true road games this season. She is hitting .370 with a 1.289 OPS in SEC play.
Perez ranks second in the SEC and seventh nationally with 35 walks. She has drawn multiple walks in six games, including four straight spanning the LSU series finale and all three games against Kentucky.
The junior is the only Aggie to reach base in every game this season and carries a 42-game on-base streak into the Ole Miss series, the second-longest active streak in the nation.
HOT BAT
Ariel Kowalewski has been dominant over the last 10 games, slashing .531/.559/.906 with three home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored, while striking out just once in 32 at-bats.
Micaela Wark has also excelled in SEC play with 17 RBI, including five home runs among her 14 hits. She is slashing .424/.500/.879 in 11 conference games.
