
Four Aggies Garner All-America Honors from NCBWA, Perfect Game

COLLEGE STATION – Four Aggies added to their respective lists of postseason accolades, earning All-America honors from the National College Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game, as announced Wednesday.
The NCBWA selected outfielder Caden Sorrell and relief pitcher Clayton Freshcorn to the first team, starting pitcher Aiden Sims to the second team and first baseman Gavin Grahovac to the third team. Sorrell was also named a First Team All-American by Perfect Game.
Freshcorn was highly efficient as the Aggies' closer, posting a 2.82 ERA in 27 appearances. Across 54.1 innings of work, he owned a 4-3 record and struck out 56 batters while issuing just six walks (9.33 K/BB ratio). The Waller, Texas, native registered an SEC-best 12 saves that ties for third-most in a single season at Texas A&M. Nine of his 12 saves were outings of multiple innings and his seven saves in conference play tied for most in the league. Freshcorn, a First Team All-SEC selection, was named a finalist for the Stopper of the Year award by the NCBWA.
Grahovac becomes the 10th two-time All-American in program history after turning in a stellar junior campaign. He slashed .339/.429/.722 with 22 home runs, 16 doubles and three triples. The righty plated 74 RBI and led the team with 76 runs scored. During SEC play, Grahovac ranked atop the conference in slugging percentage (.754), home runs (13), RBI (43) and runs scored (40). His 1.172 OPS ranked third among SEC hitters. The Orange, California, native compiled a team-high 26 multi-hit contests and added 20 multi-RBI performances. His standout conference season earned First Team All-SEC recognition along with a spot on the All-SEC Defensive Team.
On the mound, Sims anchored the Aggies' rotation with an 8-1 record in 13 starts. The right-hander finished the year with a 3.84 ERA, 73 strikeouts and 1.07 WHIP while holding opponents to a .213 batting average. Sims recorded four quality starts and posted a 5-1 mark against SEC competition. The Forney, Texas, native delivered his best performance of the season against Vanderbilt, tossing a seven-inning shutout with eight strikeouts, allowing just three hits. The outing earned him SEC Player of the Week Honors.
Sorrell continued his status as one of the SEC's premier hitters, slashing .341/.434/.743 in 55 starts. He drove in a team-best 76 RBI and crossed the plate 67 times. Sorrell became the first Aggie since 1999 to record at least 20 home runs and 20 doubles in a season. He finished the year leading the team in both categories, totaling 23 home runs and 20 doubles.
The Highland Village, Texas, native registered 21 multi-RBI games and 23 multi-hit performances. In SEC play, he hit .317 with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 35 RBI. His success in conference play earned his First Team All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive Team accolades. Sorrell adds to his list of postseason accolades after being named the NCBWA District VII Player of the Year.
